I agree with Pat Murrell in her comment about Birkenhead.
Like Pat, I was born and brought up there. I moved away when I was 40 and returned for my retirement years.
When I visited Birkenhead town centre, I was both shocked and saddened.
The car park by Asda was a disgrace men just sitting around and litter every were. I have never returned.
When I spoke about the situation people just said 'yes it's very sad, there is a lot of people out of work'.
When I was young there were lots of people out of work. My brother and I only had second hand clothes. But we were taught right from wrong, not to use bad language plus manners.
If you dropped anything on the floor you picked it up. I went past my old home, the back passage was gated and the weeds were knee high.
You don't need money to be clean and tidy or take pride in your surroundings.
A law should be brought in that if you own an empty property and it’s going into decline, you should be given six months to sort it or it's taken off you.
A good example is the Central Hotel. What an eye sore.
