HARDLY anybody on Wirral wants to have to pay for parking to clear their heads or relax on exercise at our beauty spots.
What mealy-mouthed councillors could deny that?
Well, I know Wirral Borough Council would.
I live in New Brighton and have done for most of my life and have seen the ups and downs over the years. It seems the council is hell-bent on ruining everybody's enjoyment - whether you're visitors or live here.
New Brighton needs help to flourish and encourage people to come to the town, not turn them away - look at the derelict buildings, the old Wetherspoons, Travellers' Rest and field where The Grand used to be left for many years . . . a good site for visitors to see.
I don't know visitors think, but I think it's an eyesore. Why don't the council get that sorted first, or would that entail a bit of hard work.
In these days of austerity, families want to be a but frugal and going to the dips for a day out and a picnic should be encouraged, especially when the kids are off school.
I'm sure the Harrison family didn't give the dips to the community for them to have to pay for the privilege of using it and enjoying the day out, as I did when I was a kid and, yes, my dad did have a car and when we didn't have to pay then.
I'm 72 now. They reckon things get better, I don't think so.
