I have been reading the Wirral Globe and I just wondered why you always put 'In Wirral'?
I was born in and grew up on the Wirral.
Never, ever was it referred to as "in Wirral", as it is ON the Wirral Peninsular.
I learned that at school in the 1950s.
This 'In Wirral' has come from the Liverpudlians who moved across in droves, and it’s stuck. My birth certificate gives my place of birth as The Wirral, Cheshire.
Friends of mine say it’s frustrating, the way this has been allowed to happen.
I also think it’s a shame that the address is now Merseyside, which all outsiders assume is Liverpool.
What was wrong with Cheshire? Just an observation.
