TRY as we may we cannot see how the new 'flood barrier' along the promenade at West Kirby is either sensible or good value for money.
Those who struggle to walk far and choose to sit with a picnic in their car can no longer see the estuary and Welsh hills.
Those who choose to sit on the roadside benches out of the rain can no longer see the marine lake, estuary, and Wales.
The promenade surface, built we think, angled downwards to the water for the floodwaters to run off, is confusing for some, and possibly a 'fall' in waiting.
All this financial madness and social sadness created for a flood that has happened once in half a century.
All this to protect promenade house owners who have removed the protecting banking from the fronts of houses to dig down below sea level and build a garage!
The cycle lane is great; should mean that walkers no longer run the risk of being run over on the pavement.
Shame on you Wirral Borough Council.
