I write in reference to Mr Mason's comments on the 'magnificent' West Kirby flood defence wall (Wirral Globe, September 6).
As a qualified civil engineer, perhaps he can tell us how many tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of tons of CO2 were needlessly generated in the manufacture of the concrete wall and its installation.
Given the huge issue of climate change, we should be told how big a contribution to climate change has been made by this wall.
Perhaps the wall is now needed because of its CO2 construction contribution to climate change?
It is surely damming that the so-called "Climate Emergency Committee" did NOT (for some reason) define the calculable CO2 generation when promoting the wall against massive local opposition.
Surely the climate impact of its construction should have been the committee's overriding consideration?
Does the committee know what the climate emergency is?
Hopefully, the massive wall gates will have soon seized up so the RNLI can launch at West Kirby at any state of the tide.
