NESTON and Oxton posted excellent victories in the Premier Division of the Chapel Press Cheshire County League on a rain hit Saturday.

Neston accounted for Didsbury by five wickets. Jack Smith struck a fine unbeaten 111 whilst Jordan Free finished with 5-43.

Oxton had six wickets to spare against Urmston. Best on the day for the winners were Lee Dixon 83 not out, Mark Rowlands 66 and Andrew Birley 4-77.

It was not so good for Irby in Division One as they lost by four wickets at the hands of Christleton. Martin Smith top scored with 48 but the all out Irby total of 152 proved inadequate.

New Brighton had to settle for a draw against Highfield in the Premier Division of the Bridging Finance Solutions Liverpool Competition. They closed on 85-6 after Highfield posted a declared 160-7 score. Ashraf Nawab took 4-40 for the local outfit.

Wallasey saw off Prestatyn by five wickets in a low scoring Division One clash. Chris Bourne 5-45 and Sam Loftus 5-52 restricted the Welsh side to a meagre 98 total which proved too little.

Caldy took the Division two match against Burscough by four wickets. Rich Battersby claimed 4-26.

It was again not good for Birkenhead St Mary’s who failed by four wickets at the hands of Wavertree. Steve McGenity did his best with a 45 knock.

Parkfield Liscard engaged in a high scoring draw with Sutton. Grant Hughes took 4-39 as Sutton reached 235-8. The Wallasey side closed on 189-3 with an unbeaten 81 from Ishaq Afridi and 42 from Rashid Riaz.

Birkenhead Park hit winning form in Division One of the Meller Braggins Cheshire League. They romped home by nine wickets against Hale Barns who declared on 148-8.

Parkonians enjoyed an eight wickets margin over Appleton in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance. Chris Beckett led the way with a 6-14 haul.

There were no winners in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside Competition. Wayne Greve hit 54 for Port Sunlight against Maritime in Division One.

Andy Van Beek reached 85 for Bromborough in the Division Two derby against Tranmere Vics.
