OXTON had to settle for a draw against Nantwich in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League. They finished four runs short with three wickets standing.

It was better for Neston, who accounted for Oulton Park by four wickets. Jack Smith was out on 99.

Irby just held out against Widnes in Division One. They were 72 runs adrift with one wicket left. Dave Newman made 61 and Rob Houghton took 4-41.

Upton missed out by seven runs against Stockport Georgians in Division Two. They totalled 152 chasing a 160 target. Rob Wycherley contributed 53 and Ian Linwood took 4-48.

New Brighton had to settle for a draw in the Bridging Financial Solutions Liverpool Competition Premier League against Northern. They closed on 111-7 chasing a declared Northern total of 207-9.

Wallasey also had to accept a draw in Division One against Southport and Birkdale. Sam Loftus contributed an unbeaten 70 and Chris Bourne finished with 5-44. The combined side were 178-8 chasing 223-5 declared at stumps.

Parkfield Liscard (Abid Riaz 52) fell by five wickets at the hands of Fleetwood Hesketh in Division Two.

There was also no joy for Birkenhead St Mary’s in a two wickets reverse against Sutton but it was an improved display. Steve McGenity did his best with a knock of 45 and Dan Jordan enjoyed a good game with 40 and 5-30.

Caldy dug deep to gain a draw at Wavertree, closing 54 runs adrift with three wickets intact.

Birkenhead Park played out a draw against Northwich in Division Two of the Meller Braggins Cheshire League. They closed 31 runs behind with three wickets intact.

Parkonians lost their latest league match in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance by 28 runs at Wistaston. They collapsed to 77 all out after restricting the home side to 105 with Dave Fletcher taking 5-57 and Chris Beckett enjoying a 5-20 haul.

Wirral played out a close draw against Haslington who closed six runs behind with two wickets standing. Ron Gambles 45 and Jo Hackett 79 not out were best for Wirral.

In Division Three, Eastham and Bromborough accounted for Wistaston II by eight runs. Russ Williams claimed 7-39.

Port Sunlight went under by 69 runs against Aigburth in Division One of the Bromborough Paints Merseyside Competition. Harry Burkey 35 and Wayne Greve 5-56 did their best.

In Division Two, Bromborough lost by eight wickets against Crosby St Mary’s. Andy Van Beek scored an undefeated 89 in a Bromborough declared total of 176-6.

Tranmere Vics beat Goodlass by eight wickets. Mark O’Brien contributed an unbeaten 36 and Dave Martlew took 6-35.

Parkonians on Sunday in the Alliance Knock-out Trophy accounted for Nantwich by five wickets with Adam Wastwater getting 4-26.
