A GREAT start by Wirral Schoolboys saw them take the lead within five minutes as Matty Vine slotted in from close range.
Minutes later Mitchell Duggan smashed a shot from 25 yards and left the keeper no chance.
Wirral stayed on top during the first-half and Mitchell tried another long range effort, this time the keeper got a touch but couldn't prevent the ball rolling over the line to put them 3-0 ahead.
After several testing corners, Captain Dylan Thompson stayed on the back post to push the score to an impressive 4-0.
But then Wirral took the foot off the gas and allowed Chester to score seconds before the half-time whistle.
After the break Wirral seemed sluggish and started off slowly, allowing Chester to take the game to them and within ten minutes of the restart they'd scrored twice.
Chester were then awarded a penalty which they converted to make it a nail-biting 4-4.
Wirral were on the back foot for a further ten minutes until a couple of substitutions, folllowing which they came back pressing the Chester goal.
In the final minute, the Chester goalkeeper made two great saves but couldn't keep out Joe Lamb at the far post, who tucked the ball away to make it 5-4.
Wirral Schoolboys' manager, Matty Houghton, said: "It was great to see this team get a reward for their efforts and achievements throughout the season.
"I'm sure they will go onto to win more trophies next year "
