AFTER enjoying one of their best seasons in the Blue Square Bet North, Vauxhall Motors are now eagerly planning for another campaign in this competitive division, especially with the likes of Southport, Altrincham, Colwyn Bay and FC Halifax joining the fray.
The Motormen have already arranged a couple of decent pre-season games ahead of the new season which begins on Saturday, August 13, and this includes a game at Rivacre Park against Stockport County who have just lost their status as a Football League club. That match is due to take place on Tuesday, July 19, at 7.30pm.
Admission prices at Rivacre Park are set to increase for the first time in several seasons but still remain far and away the cheapest in the league. Adults will be £9, concessions £6, students remain unaltered at £3 and children under 16 will be admitted for just £1, in a new “kid for a quid” promotion.
Season ticket prices on the other hand have been frozen yet again and will remain at last seasons level, thereby encouraging more fans to purchase these ahead of the new campaign. Prices are £152 adults, £95 concessions and £57 for students.
Meanwhile, manager Carl Macauley is already working hard behind the scenes to bolster his squad ahead of this next challenge, having performed miracles with such a small budget last season.
Club chairman Alan Bartlam said: "Carl has done a terrific job here with so little and the squad he put together this last season was arguably the best he has ever assembled.
"We had several quality players here and the task now is to do our level best to improve the quality still further in the hope that we can really make our mark in 2011-12, whilst continuing to play the game the right way.
"Having reached the first round of the FA Cup for the first time in six years, holding Hartlepool away at that stage, we looked set for a really good finishing position in the league a couple of months ago, but injuries and suspensions hit our small squad hard in the finally weeks and we fell away from a top half finish.
"We want to improve our position in the table and we know its going to be tough once again, but we are all up for another battle."
