THE CURTAIN came down on another Wirral Sunday League season with last Thursday's successful annual presentation and race night at Cammell Laird Sport snd Social Club.

Once again the function, supported by Fastrack Promotions, was well attended and was fittingly concluded as Neston Nomads' Brian Tudor was named Manager of the Year.

In their first season in the Wirral Sunday, Tudor, steered Nomads to the Division One title, and saw his side win both the Challenge and the Wirral & District FA's Sunday Amateur Cups. Nomads will be joined in the Premier next season by runners-up, Peggy Gadflys.

League Secretary Dave Lea invited each division's Player of the Year to present the League winners trophies to the champions, with the leading scorer presenting the runners-up medals.

In the Premier Division, Kent FC's Steve English was named Player of the Year, and presented the awards to champions Euro Wirral, who also landed the the Pyke Sunday Cup. The division's top marksman was Euro Wirral's Terry New who presented Prenton Park with the runners-up medals.

Sportsmans Arms were Premier Cup winners.

Division One's Player of the Year was Bird FC 's captain marvel, Jamie Williams, who presented the winners awards to Neston Nomads, while the division's top scorer, Dave Favager of Senior Cup winners, Towers, gave Peggy Gadflys their mementoes.

Neston were crowned Division Two champions and celebrated a double after they retained the Martin Caulfield Junior Cup. The winners trophies were given out by Player of the Year, Mark Hughes of Morton Arms. The George clinched the second promotion spot, and Higher Bebington's Aaron Doyle finished the season as the division's top goal getter.

Several clubs were in the shake up for the fair play award, but it was newcomers, Birkenhead News who came out with top marks and also boasted the Secretary of the Year in Kenny Clarke. A new also name appeared on the Referee of the Year's plinth band after Pat Dempsey was named top official for the first time.

Premier Division club MSC Eastham are looking to strengthen their playing staff next season and invite interest from experienced players to contact the club secretary Paul Gee as early as possible on 07944 968 599.
