FOLLOWING the previous week's disappointment of having conceded the Carlsberg West Cheshire League's Division One title to West Kirby, runners-up Maghull had just cause for celebration after they overcame Newton and lifted the Pyke Cup for the first time.
In Thursday evening's showdown at Vauxhall, the Liverpool based outfit posted a 3-0 result courtesy of a goal apiece from Lee Tynan, Sam Wilkie and Mike Boyle.
Newly-crowned Division Two champions Ashville completed a hat-trick of silverware after they added the West Cheshire's Haworth & Gallagher Bowl to their Cheshire FA Amateur Cup and league successes.
The Bowl final went in keeping with the form book as free scoring Ashville romped home 6-1, inspired by a hat-trick from man-of-the-match, Timmy Bigland.
Further efforts from Davie Rudge, Chris Barrow and Ross Rule completed the scoreline. Mark Higham netted Cape's consolation via the penalty spot.
Another side who can be well satisfied with their season's work, are Runcorn Linnets Reserves who staved off the challenge from Manor Athletic and became Division Three champions, and then completed the double over their closet rivals, when a solitary strike from Jack Webb settled the outcome of the West Cheshire's Complete Focus Shield final.
Division Two runners-up Chester Nomads, are deservedly Division One bound and rounded off their season in style after they blitzed Highfield Ath. 5-1 in the Chester & District FA Senior Cup final. Mark Crossan, Danny Delgado, Andy Fitzgibbon, Dale Harris and George Pulford were the marksmen.
On the minus side, Helsby suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat at the hands of Runcorn Albion, in the Runcorn & District FA Challenge Cup final.
Concluding league fixtures saw Marshalls humble Blacon YC 8-0 in Division One, thanks to goals from Joe Connolly (3), Sean Robinson (2), Phil Davies, Dave Sabri and Richard Jones, while two-goal Liam Jameson anchored New Brighton Reserves to a 4-3 triumph at Hale Reserves in Division Three.
Aaron Woods and Luke Hughes also netted with Tony McKinley (2) and James Mears in reply for the hosts.
West Cheshire League followers are reminded that the annual presentation night is scheduled for Thursday, May 26 at the Vauxhall Sports & Social Club. Doors open 7.15pm.
Guest speaker is former Manchester City star Steve Daly and he'll be supported by Irish comedian Dusty Young.
