HARTPURY continued to be too tough opposition for Caldy as they scored six tries on a cold afternoon in Gloucestershire to win 40-24.
However, on the positive side Caldy scored four tries of their own to gain what could be a vital bonus point.
The first try came on ten minutes from the home side after a great lineout down the left which was finished off by Ethan Hunt followed by a penalty try just six minutes later.
Michael Cartmill brought Caldy back into the game at the midway point of the first half, however, that just inspired the home side to score again two minutes later when Archie McArthur scored under the posts.
Alex Morgan scored the bonus point try for the home side on the 26th minute to end a try blitz in the opening half hour.
The second half started a bit more even but a second penalty try saw Hartpury gain a lead they would not relinquish.
Jacob Rees completed the scoring for the home side and then Caldy had a stroke of luck with 15 minutes left when Matt Gallagher scored a try after a great move.
A penalty try with five minutes left on the watch gave Caldy the momentum to get a four try bonus point and as the clock went into overtime Caldy kept pushing and as the ball got to Matt Gallagher he went over to gain a well deserved point.
Next week Caldy are at home as Cornish Pirates make the long journey north from the South West. The team have struggled this season but will be a tough test for the Ravers.
