CAMMELL Laird 1907 FC travelled to Runcorn Town and in a topsy-turvy fixture lost a seven-goal thriller 4-3.
The opening 45 minutes saw Lairds go ahead after only three minutes as Jamie Eaton scored but the visitors conceded an equaliser ten minutes later through Charlie Harland and then went behind in the 34th minute to Joshua Osifo following a defensive error and went in at the break 3-1 after another poor goal in the dying minutes from Thomas Ruffer.
A poor start to the second half saw Lairds concede again in the 55th minute as Ruffer completed his brace, but pulled a goal back within minutes as Jack Kelly found the net and reduced the arrears even further with 15 minutes remaining as Rory Alldis scored on debut. Alas, with time running out Lairds failed to find an equaliser and points went to Runcorn.
Lairds play Warrington Town on Tuesday, November 19 with a 7.45pm kick off in the Cheshire FA Senior Cup.
There was better news for the reserves as they beat Hooton FC 3-1 in a great team effort that saw Kieran Hughes, Adam Larway and Alfie Mollington all grab singles to keep them well in contention for a promotion place.
Lairds U-23's progressed in the WCFL Shield when eliminating Shaftesbury 3-0 as Jack Gordon fired a superb hat-trick to keep his goal scoring ratio increasing.
