BLACKBURN is a team that has caused Wirral problems over the past few seasons since they were promoted and on Saturday, Wirral produced their best performance of the season to win handsomely 45-7 against a team one place above them in the league.

Wirral took the lead after 15 minutes with a try from Will Morris and a few minutes later he went in for his second try.

At this stage Wirral were doing all the attacking and a quickly taken penalty enabled Tom Akehurst to score an individual try under the posts and then before half time Morris scored his hat-trick try and Wirral’s try bonus point all before half-time with a 24-0 lead.

In the second half, Wirral continued in attacking mood and were rewarded with further tries from man of the match, Ben Brooks and Morris going over for his 4th try.

Blackburn came back into the game scoring a fine individual try before Wirral finalised matters with a final try by Mark Williams, allowing Rhys James to convert five of the seven tries.

The next game will be the tie against fellow Wirral team, Anselmians on Saturday, November 30 with a  2.15pm kick off.
