AN assured team display by Cammell Laird 1907 FC saw them collect all three points as they defeated Allscott Heath 4-0 away from home.
A blistering start to the game saw Jamie Eaton fire home in the second minute and Jack Kelly did likewise in the eighth minute to put Lairds on the road to a great result against a team who beat them at home only two months ago. But this was a more confident side with new signings, one of which, keeper Josh Brooks, kept a clean sheet on his debut.
In both halves Lairds always looked dangerous on the attack and solid defensively and nullified anything that Allscott could muster, but they had to wait until the 75th minutes for Eaton to add his second and the team's third goal.
An industrious midfield saw Jamie Leyland, Rory Alldis and Cameron McGregor providing chances for Eaton, Conor Doyle and Kelly, but the fourth goal did not come until McGregor netted in the 95th minute to seal a well deserved 4-0 victory and take Lairds up to 13th in the NWCFL Division South.
Lairds next fixture is away to Runcorn Town on November 16 followed by a Cheshire FA Senior Cup tie at home versus Warrington Town on Tuesday, November 19 with a 7.45pm kick off, which will be a stern test for Lairds.
Lairds reserves also produced a fine performance when beating Waggon & Horses away 6-1 as they progressed into the next round of the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup as three players all scored a brace of goals. On target were Luke Burns, Kieran Hughes and Adam Larway to seal a great result for manager John Leasor.
Next up for the reserves is a home fixture on November 9 versus Neston Nomads.
Not so fortunate were the U23s who lost 3-0 away at Neston Nomads U-23s who sit in second place in the West Cheshire League third division, but Lairds remain in seventh place during their first season in open age football. Up next for the U23s are Willaston in a home fixture.
