CALDY opened their Premiership Cup campaign with a 12-33 defeat to Newcastle Falcons.
The Premiership's bottom side burst out of the blocks and dominated the early play taking the lead in the opening five minutes when great play across the pitch saw Oli Spencer go over.
Newcastle caught Caldy cold from the restart and and scored a second try almost immediately through Hugh O'Sullivan.
The game then stabilised and both sides had chances to break with Caldy doing well to repel the strength of the North East side.
As the clocked ticked to half time Newcastle broke away and scored a third try of the afternoon from Freddie Lockwood.
The second half stated better for Caldy and they were rewarded for their pressure as Matthew Rabbette scored under the posts after a fabulous move
Falcons scored their bonus point try with 15 minutes to go through winger Nathan Greenwood after a great phase of play.
Caldy responded immediately scoring a try through Ollie Wynn with his sixth touchdown of the season to make the last ten minutes interesting
But Newcastle put paid to any comeback with a final try with two minutes remaining on the watch from Adam Radwan.
Caldy travel to visit Sale Sharks for the first time this Friday evening
