Caldy lost 31-17 at newly promoted Chinnor as the Oxfordshire side scored four tries in the opening half to take second place in the league.
The home side was in front in the opening minutes after winning a scrappy lineout and allowed Alun Walker to dive over to score.
Caldy managed to get more into the game after this and they were rewarded with a penalty try.
At the midway point of the first half Chinnor took advantage of some Caldy mistakes and were able to score through Rob Hardwick.
Chinnor won the ball from the kick off and managed to work their way through the defence to score a third try through Wharton, the second in as many minutes.
A bonus point came minutes before half time through Kieran Goss.
The second half was more of a level playing field with neither side able to break through in the third quarter of the game.
In the 65th minute Caldy were able to break down the defence with great play from Jacob Mitchell and Ollie Wynn working together to finish a great flowing move, and it looked as though a comeback was on the cards.
However the home side had other ideas when Morgan Passman finished off a great move with just seconds remaining on the clock.
Speaking after the game Caldy head coach Matt Cairns said “In the first half we made too many errors and didn’t make Chinnor work hard enough”.
Caldy are on the road again next time out to face Ampthill of Bedfordshire. The two sides have had some great battles over the past decade.
