VAUXHALL Motors went top of Northern Premier League Division One West with a 2-1 win over City of Liverpool at the DCBL Stadium, Widnes.
The game started with both teams showing no signs of weakness, strong tackles being made and chances being created.
The break through came in the 23rd minute when Josh Quarless played a through ball to Jawad Jebrin down the right hand side who then slotted home the opening goal in what is his first for the club since signing.
The Motors then grew dominant with the result being a penalty won by Jawad Jebrin who was pushed in the back from a corner. Ben Holmes stepped up to take the spot kick but a fantastic save was made by Calvin Hare.
Five minutes after half time City of Liverpool equalised through Elliot Morris with a curling shot into the bottom left corner.
In the 63rd minute, a Josh Quarless shot was parried by Hare out to Nick Rushton who made it 2-1 with a finish from eight yards out.
In the 81st minute Holmes then brought on Jordan Deer for Ben Holmes and the third goal quickly came when Quarles cleverly back heeled the ball back to Ellison whose shot was cleared off the line before it fell to Deer who smashed the ball into the roof of the net from six yards.
Vauxhall Motors play again on Tuesday, October 1 as they travel to Altrincham FC for a First Round Cheshire Cup tie with a 19:45pm kick off.
