CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 1

The over 35’s veterans football kicked off on Friday night starting with the Tarvin Precision Division 1. Higher Bebington Kelma Vets got off to a great start when they netted in the opening minute against Champions Mersey Roya Vets, however Royal quickly regained control to take a commanding 6-2 lead by half time. The goals continued to flow in the second half mainly in Royals favour as they ran out 11-3 winners. New Boy Ian Sheridan was on fire as he netted six times, while Chris Mcginn added two. Danny Edwards, Will Bulpin and Deano Baker each contributed one. For Kelma, Jason Ashworth scored twice, and Shane Cairns with a single.

That same night, Queens Park Vets took on newly promoted Neston Nomads Vets in another thrilling, goal-filled encounter. Despite being reduced to 10 men just seven minutes into the game, Queens regrouped and put up a determined fight. However, the numerical advantage eventually told with Neston claiming a well-earned 5-3 victory. Sam Bunbury led the scoring for Neston with a double, while Paul Ellison, Ben Person and Lee Dunbar added a goal each. For Queens Park, Kevin Bimpson scored twice with Dotty Bolton adding the other.

The only other game in Division 1 was played on Saturday and featured Capenhurst Vets hosting Hooton Vets. It was Hooton Vets who displayed grit and determination to come away with a 2-1 result. Kirk Mustoe and Richie Feightman were the goal heroes giving the Hoot a 2-goal lead. Capenhurst’s Lewis Walters pulled one back late in the game making for a tense finish, but Hooton held on to take all three points.

CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2

Birkenhead Town Vets kicked off their league campaign in style with a commanding 6-1 victory over Ashston Vets. New signing Lee Gibson, reuniting with brothers Ricci and Ian Loughran was in fine form scoring a hat-trick. Mikey New contributed a brace and Shaun Kelly added the other to seal an emphatic win.

Great Float Vets made a triumphant return to the league with an opening day 4-2 win against Winsford Vets, Neil Atkinson led the charge with a brace, while Jimmy Gomes and Dava Favager each added a goal to secure the win for the Seacombe men. While Steve Warburton netted a brace for Winsford Vets.

CWFL Queensferry Premier Division.

Currently, Blacon do not have a team to compliment the superb set-up at Cairns Crescent. However, Paul “Butch” Broadbent and Nicky Jones continue their exceptional work in maintaining the pitch with many teams complimenting the pitch as “one of, if not the best about”. Waggon & Horses have now taken advantage of the superb set up and on Saturday Moreton were the visiting team and it was the visitors who continued their winning streak, making it three victories in a row with a thrilling 4-3 win against last season’s champions. The match featured both teams taking the lead at various stages in an action-packed encounter. Manny Olaitan, Jay Harrison, and James Broadbent were all on target for Moreton while Gary Roberts, Billy Fennell and Aiden Field all found the net for Waggon. With the game tied at 3-3 Wing Back Nathan Quest emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive goal to secure the win to cement Moreton’s title ambitions in what was their toughest test so far.

Kelsall’s unbeaten start to the season remained intact, though they had to settle for a point away at Hoole Rovers. Adam Pickering netted his third goal of the season for Kelsall, but Tom Wynn-Jones replied for Hoole as the game ended 1-1. Kelsall sit second in the table with Hoole Rovers gaining their first point of the season to move up to seventh.

Will Kitchen was in fine form on Saturday, scoring twice for Cestrian Alex in their 2-1 victory over Hoole Rangers 2-1. Hoole’s Kyle Stoddard netted a consolation goal, but it wasn’t enough to alter the outcome as Cestrian got their season up and running.

Chester Nomads thirds notched their first win of the season with a commanding 4-0 win at home against Handbridge FC. Osian Jones netted a brace while Tim Ashbrook and Moussa Youssouf added the other goals.

CWFL Olympic Trophies Premier Division

On Friday might FC Farndon played host to title hopefuls Lache FC, and it was the latter that raced into a 2-goal lead. Farndon however battled back to take a 3-2 lead midway into the second half thanks to a double from Sam Williams and a goal from Will Yardley, only for Lache to then make it 3-3 minutes later. In the 88th minute Will Yardley stepped up to score a dramatic winner and secure a brilliant 4-3 win for FC Farndon. Jack Radford with a double and Jake Gibbons were on target for Lache.

Oscar Sergent was the man in charge as he led Cheshire Vikings to a 5-1 win against Chester Nomads fourth. Sergent helped himself to a hat-trick as Billy Beasley and Jamie Williams scored Vikings other goals. Fergus McKeown netted Nomads consolation goal. West Kirby thirds climbed to second in the table after beating Sutton Rangers Reserves by the odd goal in five. Alfie Owens, Michael McStein and Danny Wilson were on target for West Kirby, while Joe Davies and Carlos Afonso scored for Sutton Rangers Reserves.

Newcomers AFC Waverton made an impressive start in the CWFL championship, securing a 4-1-win victory over Waggon & Horses Reserves. Louis Finn, Declan Jones, Joe Walsh and Joe Rigby were all on the scoresheet for Waverton while Finn Bradley netted Waggon’s consolation goal. Whitegate enjoyed a narrow 1-0 win against Horse & Jockey thanks to a decisive strike from Robbie Jones. Meanwhile Upton JFC thirds edged out Ellesmere Port U21 winning 3-2. Josh Robinson starred with two goals and Joe Walsh also found the net. Regan Riach and Zak Maw scored for Ellesmere Port U21
