A GROUP of young Wirral gymnasts have returned home from the USA after enjoying incredible success at an international competition.
The girls from New Brighton Gymnastics Club attended the USAIGC Gymnastics World Championships in Orlando, Florida from June-July 2 2024 returning with six Overall World Champions, ten Session World Champions, and 23 Apparatus World Champions.
In addition they registered two first place Overall Team World Champions for Copper 1 and Copper 2 levels and were the third place Team World Champions for Bronze level.
One of the club's gymnasts, Phoebe Davies, scored the first ever in USAIGC history the perfect ten on uneven bars.
The club also won the Super Coach Award In Copper 1, Copper 2 and Bronze levels.
The team representing the UK and New Brighton included, Poppy Cairns (8) Isabella Gazzola (8), Maddison Davies (8), Isla Ellison (9), Damara'h Barrow (9), Poppy Finch (11), Ivy Watts (12), Ellie Harper (12), Phoebe Davies (12), Edie Lofthouse-Forrester (13), Maisy Woods (13), Leah Thory (13), Faye Knowles-Griffin (13), Lily Cairns (13), Anaiya Amos-Smith (14), Hollie Chapman (14), Lauren Holden (14), and Katie Keogh (15).
A spokesperson for the club said: "We would love to take this opportunity to thank our amazingly supportive coaching team, Stephanie Rimmer (head coach), Tracey & Jeff Rimmer (senior coaches) along with all other coaches that helped support the team through intensive qualifying rounds and long training sessions.
"Without this and the girls' commitment and determination we would not have been able to achieve these fantastic results."
