NEW Brighton finally got their first win of the season in the Love Lane Liverpool Competition Premier League after dispatching Southport and Birkdale by three wickets at Rake Lane.
Damitha Silva (6-56) and Ashley Watkins (3-24) restricted the visitors to 170 all out before a successful run chase saw the Rakers over the line.
Birkenhead Park sit alongside New Brighton in the relegation zone despite scoring an impressive victory over Wirral neighbours Wallasey at Rosclare Drive. Malinda Pushpakumara's 4-26 saw the hosts bundled out for just 89 with Park sealing a four wicket win despite Matthew Keogh's 4-13.
In Division Two, Caldy and Alder produced the first tie of the season as they both closed on 227 after a thrilling game at Paton Field. Amruth Devaraj (69) top scored for the hosts before Umega Chaturanga (4-63) excelled with the ball with Alder's last wicket falling from a run out as they chased the winning run.
Parkfield Liscard sit bottom of the league after a heavy defeat to Sutton who declared on 242-9 off 48 overs. Jehan Yahathugoda's 6-80 was the highlight for the hosts who were dismissed for 117 in reply.
