VAUXHALL Motors FC manager Danny Holmes has confirmed his initial squad with preseason a week away.

The club confirmed via social media the players which would be retained ahead of the next season.

Goalkeepers Jack Atkinson and Alex Brown remain at the club with Atkinson hoping to return to his number one spot following his transfer from City of Liverpool in the January transfer window. He went on to register 14 appearances where he failed to register a clean sheet which is a stat he will hope to turn around in the coming campaign.

Defenders Adam Hughes, Ben Dufton-Kelly, Lewis Sinnott, Ethan Gouldbourne, and Lewis Willingham have all been retained. They will be joined by new signing Vita Mbolokele as Holmes looks to strengthen a defence which conceded the third most goals in the division last term.

The midfield will stay mostly the same as Matty Welding, Will Mountfield, Jordan Wynee, Jordan Deer, Jake Kirby-Reed, Joe Brandon, and George Nugent who impressed Holmes enough to secure managers player of the year for the club, are all retained as well as the additions of Jawad Jebrin and Nick Rushton who will look to create and convert more goals for the Motors. Notably, Mitchell Duggan will also remain at the club and will return near the end of the year.

Strikers Jay Harvey, Connor Rankin and Kevin Ellison will all continue with 45-year-old cult hero Ellison electing to continue his passion for the sport.

Bobbie McDonnell, Jason Akiotu, Ally Hughes and Bisensio Kamilo have all left at the end of their contracts.

The club has also made the decision not to retain Ollie Nugent.

Meanwhile Bobby Beaumount has gone on to join Flint Town, Sean Moscrop has joined Cheadle Town and Ally Hughes has joined Ossett United.
