MORE than 80 people took to the pitch for a women's rugby tournament on Wirral.
Taking place at Old Parkonians Sports Club in Oxton, it was one of a series of tournaments involving teams from Oxton Parkonians, Oldershaw, Birkenhead Park, Caldy, Hoylake and Wirral.
The event was described by organisers as 'very well attended' with 80 women taking part in the tournament and approximately 50 people spectating.
Ken Cooke, chairman of the Old Parkonians, said: "The teams play each other on a round robin basis and whilst the games are competitive, they are played in great spirit with the accent being on fun and participation in sport.
"It was fantastic to see the event so well supported by players and spectators.
"It was a great evening with good rugby skills on display and played in great spirit."
Further events are scheduled to take place at Caldy RUFC tomorrow (Wednesday, June 19, Hoylake RUFC on June 26 June and Oldeshaw RUFC on July 3 and !0.
