TRANMERE Rovers have confirmed the signing of midfielder Sam Finley on a two-year contract following his departure from Bristol Rovers.
Finley joins as Nigel Adkins’ first new signing of the summer and it is hoped the 31-year-old will provide experience and quality in central midfield having spent last season in League One, and having gained promotion from League Two with Bristol Rovers in 2021/22.
The Liverpool-born player began his EFL career with Accrington Stanley, also representing Fleetwood Town before moving to Bristol Rovers.
Finley arrives at Tranmere following a four-year spell with the Gas, in which he made 121 appearances and scored five goals. His contract with Tranmere will begin on July 1.
On signing for Rovers, Finley, said: “I’m delighted. I came and met the gaffer last week, and we had a good chat as he showed me round the training ground.
“The size of the Club, the stadium and the fanbase, and being closer to home as well, with my family. It’s massively important for me.”
Manager Adkins said: “We are excited to welcome Sam Finley to Tranmere Rovers. As we continue to strengthen the squad for the journey ahead, the experienced central midfielder will add a very competitive drive to the team.”
