WIRRAL played away to the unbeaten league leaders on Saturday and with their young and underweight side put in a tremendous performance which was not truly represented by the score.
It was Wirral who took the lead after three minutes when a kick ahead was won by Mark Edwards to score his first try for the club.
Wirral managed to keep the lead for a further 15 minutes until the pressure of the Blackburn pack began to take its toll on the visitors and they managed two tries before half time to take a 12-5 lead into the break.
In the second half, much as Wirral applied pressure on Blackburn, they could not force their way over the home line.
With a number of injuries being incurred by Wirral they were not able to fully compete in the last 20 minutes, which led to the home team scoring a number of converted tries, as the visitors finished the game with less than the allotted number of players.
