BRIAN Harman celebrated his victory at Wirral's Open championship this weekend with a dinner at an American diner.
The American golfer, who survived an early scare to claim his first major title in dominant fashion on a rain-soaked final day of the 151st OpenChampionship at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake on Sunday, celebrated his win at Hickory's in West Kirby.
Suddenly Harman was the smiling centrepiece for a flurry of selfies and once a table was found beer started to flow from the Claret Jug. He celebrated with fellow pros Sepp Straka and JT Poston.
Laughter and happiness filled their little corner of Hickory's Smokehouse with the famous trophy sitting at the end of the table.
It was in contrast to the dull, soggy atmosphere in which the 36-year-old champion had played the golf of his life hours earlier.
He also signed his very own Hickory’s Pitmaster Apron.
A Hickory's spokesperson told the Globe: "We were absolutely delighted that the Open Golf champion, Brian Harman, chose to celebrate his victory with us here at Hickory's Smokehouse West Kirby.
"We are huge sports fans and have gone all out to support this incredible event and embrace everything it has meant to the people of Wirral.
"We will never, ever forget filling the Claret Jug with Brian's chosen brew!
"Having our own, local superstar, Matthew Jordan here to join the celebrations too, was the absolute best - a total honour for us and the highlight of a fantastic week for the local community here in West Kirby!"
