ROYAL Liverpool member Matthew Jordan rode a wave of support as he made the cut at his home Open on Friday.
The 27-year-old Hoylake resident, who came through qualifying to book a place the field for the year’s final major, finished his second round on one under par to ensure further action over the weekend.
As for his first round on Thursday, Jordan was well backed by a vocal group of family, friends, club-mates and other locals throughout a one-over-par 72.
Jordan said: “The level of support that I’ve got is just unbelievable.
“Obviously my mates are here and I think if they sense you doing well, you kind of lift each other a bit.
“They’ll cheer a bit louder if I hole a putt and then for the next hole, and I’ll hear that and it’ll start to spur me on more.
“Then maybe I’ve had a bit of support early on and more people have noticed that and then want to support themselves.
“But I don’t know if I’m liked or not. It’s just I’m obviously very happy for everyone to keep coming.”
