TRIBUTES have been paid to former Tranmere Rovers goalkeeper Kevin Thomas who has died aged 78.
The Prescot-born gloveman began his career at his hometown club Prescot Cables before moving to Blackpool where he made 12 appearances in the Football League for the Seasiders between 1966-69.
He them made the move to Prenton Park and would play 18 times for Rovers before a move south to Oxford United.
Thomas made six appearances for the club, keeping one clean sheet, including an Anglo-Italian Cup tie against Torino at the Manor.
He moved to Southport in 1974 and later featured for Barrow.
Thomas died in Trinity Hospice in Blackpool on Sunday, October 9, after suffering a stroke, according to John Cross, of Blackpool’s Former Players’ Association.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, October 27 2022 at Carleton Crematorium in Blackpool at 2pm.
