BIRKENHEAD gymnast Beth Williamson has won a gold medal at the 2022 Trampoline, Tumbling and DMT European Championships.
Williamson, 22, was part of Great Britain’s women’s Double Mini Trampoline team which stood on top of the podium over the weekend in Rimini, Italy.
Williamson got the team off to a great start, setting the tone for what was to come. Two well executed skills and just a step on landing gave Great Britain four points to kick start proceedings.
Next to go for Britain was Kim Beattie and she was at her best, again taking just the smallest step on dismount to make sure of the maximum five points. With GBR going head-to-head with Portugal in a closely fought final, that made the scores tied at the top with one group left to compete.
Last to go was Kirsty Way. Knowing that she needed to be perfect for the team to win gold, her pass was exactly that. Competing one of the most difficult passes in the competition, she looked delighted as soon as she landed, taking five points to secure gold.
Williamson said: “I think we all had the same job, no matter where we went and in what order. For me it was just going out there, doing my best, and putting out the best pass I could for the team.”
Williamson also went on to compete in the women's individual DMT final where she finished sixth.
