An Olympic swimmer returned to Wirral to host a masterclass at Calday Grange Swimming Pool.
Gold medallist, Freya Anderson, spoke to 120 swimmers from Hoylake Swimming Club on Saturday 29.
As well as demonstrating her underwater techniques to younger academy swimmers and senior squad groups, she also took part in a Q+A with swimmers offering advice on how to perform better.
Freya, who swam for Hoylake until the age of 14 and became part of Team GB in 2016, said: “I really remember being here when I was younger so doing sessions to inspire future swimmers is great.
“I joined the British team in 2016 and I still get really nervous, but you can use it as excitement. My advice to simmers would be enjoy it, don’t put too much pressure on yourself.”
During the Q+A, Freya advised swimmers on nutrition and hydration, how to fuel pre-race and how to have confidence in themselves.
Sam Maher, from Hoylake Swimming Club, said: “Freya was so inspirational to our swimmers and coaching team.
“She was so lovely, really humble, and loved getting to know our swimmers and chatting to them.
“The whole experience was amazing. We were delighted to have Freya share her experiences with us.”
