AFTER last Sunday's Flyers Tournament in Birkenhead Park had to be cancelled it was great to have much more pleasant conditions this week.
Unusually the final this week this week was between two players who have not previously figured in a final.
Adam Penlington who plays for the Broughton and Bretton club and Dougie Briscoe who also plays in North Wales for Llanymynech and after an excellent game Penlington came through to take the first prize.
To reach the final Penlington had to beat two New Brighton Quarry Viking players, Eddie Dutton in the quarter-final and then John Cosgrove in the semis.
Meanwhile Briscoe had played really well to defeat the consistent Andy Buchanan in his quarter final game and he then beat the player who is the current leader in the points table New Brighton Quarry Viking's Joe Edwards.
Though Briscoe maintained his high standard in the final Penlington generally had the upper hand and he ran out a 21-15 winner.
