THE wet start to Sunday morning seemed to have put some bowlers off, but as play got under way at the Winter Flyers Tournament in Birkenhead Park the sun came out and no one enjoyed the warmth more than West Kirby Victoria's John Harrison, who managed to chalk up his third win of this season.
In the final he beat Ledsham Royal's Vic Alcock who clearly also enjoyed the pleasant conditions.
Harrison was a little too good for New Brighton Queens Royal's Vic Williams in his quarter final match before he, yet again, got the better of Hoylake Central's Bill Atkinson in the semis.
Alcock had two very good wins on his way to the final firstly beating Mike Coupe from Preston and then Manor Road's Dave Gilmore the semi-final.
Harrison made by far the better start in the final and though Alcock fought back he could not close the gap and Harrison took a well deserved victory to further extend his lead at the top of the points table.
