TIXALL's Jamie Fitzpatrick took full advantage of the warm pleasant conditions in Birkenhead Park on Sunday to record his first win of this series of the popular Winter Flyers beating Hawksbury's Paul Roberts in the final.
In the quarter final Fitzpatrick beat Hoylake Central's Tommy Walker before just scraping through in a really tight semi final match with his team mate at Tixalls, Dave Gilmore. It was good to see Gilmore returning to fitness after knee surgery.
Roberts had a great match in the quarter finals with West Kirby Victoria's John Harrision and then he had a somewhat easier win over Lever's Colin Portis to go through to the final.
Fitzpatrick's consistency makes him a very difficult opponent and he was able to win through a hard fought but relatively comfortable victory to take the top prize.
