ON a cold but relatively sunny morning in Birkenhead Park Tixall's Anthony O'Neill swept through the opposition to take his second win of this session, beating Gladstone's Joe Edwards in the final.
O'Neill had a really good win in his quarter final game against Hawksbury's Paul Roberts and he then proved to be a little too good for the Lever Club's Colin Portis in the semis.
Edwards also had a great win in his quarter final match against last week's winner Tixall's Jamie Fitzpatrick and he then got the better of one of the games up and coming young players, Jamie Isaacs of Manor Road.
O'Neill was in superb form in the final and he dominated the game and with a 21-09 win he gave Edwards very few chances.
This result confirmed O'Neill's position at the top of the points table and though Edwards has yet to win one of the tournaments in this session his consistency means that he has picked up enough points to be in a clear second place.
Results:
Quarter Finals: J. Edwards (Gladstone) 21, J. Fitzpatrick (Tixall) 12; J. Isaacs (Manor Road) 21, N. Turner (Royden Hall) 16; A. O'Neill (Tixall) 21, P. Roberts (Hawksbury) 14; C. Portis (Levers) 21, E. Dutton (New Brighton Quarry Vikings) 17.
