I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! has seen a new group of celebrities take on jungle life and tonight, one more tried their hand at a Bushtucker Trial.
TikTok star and podcaster GK Barry was the first celebrity to complete a trial in the 2024 series and after a solid performance, she earned nine out of 10 stars for camp, meaning a healthy portion of food for her campmates.
Tonight (November 19) though, it was Dean McCullough’s turn to mingle with the creepy crawlies in Sinister Sarcophagus.
The trial saw him locked inside a clear coffin while standing with his head secured in place. While he had critters join him at several points, he had to try to focus on answering trivia questions about Egypt from Ant and Dec.
Dean McCullough takes on his first Bushtucker trial
It wasn’t difficult to notice the BBC Radio 1 presenter’s fear as he was met with giant mealworms, sand filling the sarcophagus from the bottom up.
Ahead of the trial, Dean said: "I'm bricking it."
He also told hosts Ant and Dec that this series of the show is "extra" compared to the previous series after hearing everything he had been tasked with.
Some viewers predicted Dean wouldn't be successful, taking to X (formerly Twitter): "Dean will no doubt be shouting “I’m a celeb, get me out of here” soon enough #ImACeleb".
After two correct answers to the first two questions, Dean said the words 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!' meaning he quit the challenge. The sand filling up made him feel claustrophobic and he could only secure two stars for camp.
He was instantly disappointed in himself and shed some tears as he was nervous to get back to camp to tell his campmates how he got on.
Viewers believe he'll now get voted for future trials as they look to be entertained each night.
A viewer said: "He knew what he was signing up for…well guess what Dean… you're going to end up being voted every night".
Another commented: "Downloading the I'm a Celeb app and signing away my life rights to ITV so I can chronically vote for Dean for the next 2 weeks".

A third said: "That’s Dean getting every trial now isn’t it…"
Dean had lots of potential as Ant and Dec revealed some of the questions he would’ve faced and after lots of correct answers, they said he’d have done so well at answering them had he have been able to continue.

Before entering the jungle, Dean said “everything” scares him: “I am terrified of everything and the more I think about being put in the ground with 50 snakes or getting those greenfly things that bite poured over me – well, there’s just no point thinking about it, as otherwise I won’t get on the plane.”
The latest series of I’m A Celebrity has a wide range of popular stars including McFly’s Danny Jones who is currently tipped to win, Coleen Rooney, Melvin Odoom, Oti Mabuse and Barry McGuigan to name a few.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
