POLICE managed to talk a Wirral man down from motorway bridge after her threatened to jump off during rush hour last night.
The incident, which happened at around 5pm, caused part of the M53 near the Wallasey tunnel exit to be closed off while officers negotiated with the man.
The man, who is believed to be in his 20s, was standing on the wrong side of the barriers of the bridge on Fender Lane when patrol teams arrived.
Police closed off Fender Lane and Moreton Spur until around 6.15pm.
A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said the man was taken to hospital for observation.
It is the second time in less than a month police have had to deal with a potential suicide on the bridge.
A similar incident occurred on July 6 when the bridge was again closed to traffic while officers talked down a man threatening to jump onto the motorway.
