A WIRRAL school is inviting former staff and pupils to help celebrate its 50th anniversary.
St Peter’s C of E Primary School, Heswall, will mark its milestone birthday later this month with a special open day for past and present parents, teachers and pupils.
The event, which will be held on Saturday, June 25, will feature guided tours of the building and displays of old pictures and memories.
The present school building opened its doors on the 10th April, 1961.
It replaced the old school on School Hill (now Richmond Hall) built in 1872, which suffered extensive damage when part of the school received a direct hit from a bomb in 1941.
Prior to the opening of the new school, pupils had to be taught on different sites with some of the classes remaining at the School Hill site whilst others were taught in the Parish Hall on Telegraph Road.
Headteacher Chris Penn said the event will be a chance for old friends to come together to take a trip down memory lane.
A special anniversary picnic will take place on the last week of term for the current pupils, staff and invited guests to be held on the school field.
