A WIRRAL man was violently stabbed in the early hours of Monday morning.

The 21-year-old victim was found with knife wounds at around 3am in Fleet Street, Liverpool.

Police believe the man was with a friend near the entrance of the Mood Bar when they were approached by three men and a fight broke out.

The man is now being treated in hospital with a serious but stable condition.

Officers now want to trace three men, the first is white, aged 18-21 years old, 5ft 8in tall and slim.

He was wearing a light blue polo shirt with a symbol on the chest, possibly Lacoste or Lyle and Scott. He is also described as having an unusual walk.

The second man is also white, 18-21 years, 5ft 10in tall with brown fair hair. He was wearing a grey coloured polo shirt.

The third man is described as white, aged around 20 years and of slim build. He had short brown hair and was wearing a light green polo shirt.

CCTV is being examined from the area and police are speaking with witnesses who were in the area.

Detective Inspector Eddie Cowan said: "The city centre is a busy place on a bank holiday and while we have spoken with some witnesses, I am sure that more people who were on a night out would have witnessed this incident.

"Were you in the Fleet Street / Wood Street area around 3am? Maybe you saw the fight or three men running from the scene, if so please contact officers.

"A young man has been left in a very serious condition following this incident, and I'm sure the public would agree that this level of violence in unacceptable on our streets.

"Please help us find the people who are responsible for this attack, any information, no matter how small could assist with our investigation."
