A Birkenhead man today appeared at Liverpool Crown Court accused of murdering a Wirral charity worker.
27-year-old Peter Caine died after being stabbed in the chest in Market Street, Birkenhead, in the early hours of May 12.
Barry Royle appeared via video link from Walton prison charged with murder and possessing an offensive weapon in Market Street.
Royle, 28, of Market Street, Birkenhead, spoke only to confirm his name and that he could hear proceedings.
The Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Henry Globe QC, further remanded him in custody until August 12 when he is expected to enter his pleas.
A trial date was provisionally set to begin on October 31.
