MAY I take this opportunity to finish this silly story that the Metropolitan County of Merseyside does not exist and that Wirral MBC is now in Cheshire.
If Miss P Lord and her friends are correct someone should tell Her Majesty The Queen as she persists in appointing a Lord Lieutenant and every year a High Sheriff of Merseyside - or did I imagine these people when I met them as Mayor Of Wirral?
When the Lord Lieutenant is in the area of Wirral MBC, and he proposes the Loyal Toast, he toasts the Duke of Lancaster because the county comes under the Duchy, and is therefore in the County Palintine of of Lancashire established in 1351 along with Greater Manchester, Lancashire & Fueness in Cumbria for legal administration.
For instance, if you die intestate without family, your estate goes to the Duchy not the Crown (Government) as would happen in Cheshire.
Let's consider the CH postcode, all it means is are mail is sorted in Chester.
Deeside North Wales also has a CH post code, so Miss Lord is part of North Wales also in Cheshire? Royal Mail can make changes when ever they like. For example, telling me were I live in Oxton is in a non-existing Post Town of Prenton which I never use.
One more point, if we are not in Merseyside why can I use my bus pass on Merseyrail but if I lived in Cheshire I can't?
I think your readers will now believe that the Metropolitan County of Merseyside does exist and is in the Duchy & Palintine of Lancaster and Wirral MBC is not Cheshire
