THOUSANDS of walkers braved the elements this weekend for the borough’s annual Coastal Walk.
The event, which has now been taking place for more than 25 years, saw around 4,500 participants walk Wirral’s coastline to raise cash for charity.
And despite strong winds and threats of rain, people of all ages turned out for the trek.
Among those completing the 15-mile route was eight-year-old Kieran Collins who made his Coastal Walk debut on Sunday.
His mum, Colleen, said: "He wanted to have a go after we saw all the walkers at West Kirby last year. He asked me what they were all doing and he said he would like to try it next time. "Kieran did really well and made it to the finish line – with a brief stop to change his shoes half way!"
The new Mayoress of Wirral, Anna McLaughlin, was also among those joining in.
The walk follows a route from Seacombe to Thurstaston on the Dee and is organised by the Rotary Club of North Wirral.
