The leadership of Wirral Council is expected officially to change hands tonight.
All 66 members of the authority will gather this evening for their annual meeting when it is decided who takes the reins for the coming year.
Liberal Democrats have already announced they've disolved their year-long coalition with Tories.
It is expected a vote of no confidence will be passed against Conservative council leader Jeff Green.
That will be followed by election of a new leader and with Labour now the largest group holding 30 seats, their chief Steve Foulkes' path to control should be a formality.
He has vowed to fight the Government for a "fairer deal" for Wirral.
And, puzzlingly, he said on Friday: "We're not asking for any more money, just a fairer share."
What this means exactly may be explained by Cllr Foulkes tonight.
Globe reporters will be covering the meeting and will bring you the latest news on our website.
