A MUSIC teacher is stage a concert later this year to raise funds for a Wirral cancer charity in memory of his wife.
Margaret Seaman from Wallasey died at home last year after a long battle with cancer.
Her husband Peter will stage a fundraising concert at his place of work, Wirral Grammar School in Bebington on October 24.
Proceeds from the show, featuring music students, will go to 'Clatterbridge Your Cancer Centre', the charity which raises funds for the oncology centre.
Recalling his wife's courageous battle with the disease, Peter said: "Margie was fantastic. She sailed through her treatment. She stayed strong and looked beautiful throughout."
It was during Margaret's treatment that the couple received some devastating news.
Spots were found on both lungs and Margaret was given just weeks to live.
Her time at home was made as comfortable and cheerful as possible by friends and family but she sadly passed away just six weeks later.
Peter continued: "Margie was a very popular person, and that was reflected when over 200 people came to her funeral.
"We asked for donations to be made to 'Clatterbridge your cancer centre' instead of flowers, and were delighted to announce to Clatterbridge that over £600 was raised in her memory."
Jade Barrett, the charity's community fundraising manager said: "We are very much looking forward to the performance at the school.
"Peter has put an awful lot of work into it and it’s such a wonderful way to remember Margie. Losing someone close to you is a very difficult time.
"There are so many ways you can honour your loved ones memory and raise money for a fantastic cause at the same time.
"Some people may choose to give donations in lieu of flowers, as Peter and his family did, or to make a lasting memorial by setting up one of our online Tribute Funds – where loved ones can leave messages, light candles or post photos of fond memories.
"Donations can be made online to the charity at special times of the year or whenever their loved one comes to mind".
