A WIRRAL headteacher who was suspended from his job more than 18 months ago has officially left his role.
Andrew Hall, head of Calday Grange Grammar School for Boys, has come to a “joint agreement” with his employers that his time at the school should end.
He was suspended in October 2009 amid “mysterious circumstances”.
It was reported that Mr Hall suffered heart problems during his suspension.
However, after a year of uncertainty, angry parents staged a protest last September demanding the board of governors step down and Mr Hall be reinstated.
In a letter sent out on Monday, parents were told Mr Hall will no longer be headmaster and “arrangements will need to be made to appoint a successor.”
Trust chairman Tim Sibthorp said the school still faces challenging times.
He said: “I am pleased for everyone that there has been some sort of resolution after such a long time.
“But there are many challenges that face the school and I don’t think Mr Hall’s leaving will affect that much. I would like to wish Mr Hall all the best in the future with his health and professional life.”
Mr Hall’s departure comes just months after the West Kirby-based school was stripped of its “outstanding” status by Ofsted.
Head of school Michael Twist insisted that “all staff will continue to work professionally in the best interests of children.”
