TRANMERE Rovers' manager Les Parry has signed a new one-year contract with the club today.
In his first full season as manager, Mr Parry has guided Tranmere to 18th on the League One table, nine points clear of the relegation zone and just three points short of a top-half finish.
Rovers ended their League One campaign on Saturday, losing 2-0 to Swindon Town at Prenton Park.
Parry agreed his new contract today. He said: "I'd like to thank the Chairman and the Board for allowing me to continue as Manager.
"I'd also like to thank my coaching staff at the Club for their support and hard work all season as it has been a team effort.
"We've got a better team than this time 12 months ago and ended the season in a higher position and with more points, which shows we are making progress.
"We're also in a better position to push on next season with the players we've already got at the Club and we'll be working hard all summer to bring the right players in to complement those who are here.
"We are already looking forward to pre-season."
Chairman Peter Johnson said: "I'm delighted Les has agreed to stay on as our manager.
"Despite the financial restrictions he works under, he's done a really good job that I know is admired by other clubs.
"We've been competitive all season, even when going up against a lot of clubs with bigger squads and bigger budgets. "There have been some great moments this season such as the home victories over Southampton, Peterborough and MK Dons, and the away wins at Bournemouth, Leyton Orient and Walsall.
"We also had our best away record for five seasons and our fans enjoyed some excellent performances on the road.
"We've shown a lot of progress from last season and, with the addition of some new blood in the summer, have the pieces in place to move further up the table next season.
"Our early season ticket sales are also very encouraging as we had sold more by our first deadline than at the same stage last summer. It bodes well for the forthcoming campaign."
