WIRRAL'S Conservative group leader said he believed tonight's election had been "good overall".
Councillor Jeff Green said he was pleased that his party entered the elections with 27 members and ended with the same number.
However, he paid tribute to "some excellent councillors" who lost their seats.
He said: "It is good news for us as we have come out of tonight with the same number of councillors we entered with. Of course, it is a great loss to lose fantastic members who have worked solidly for for their residents.
"I must also pay tribute to Simon Holbrook who has worked with me as my deputy for the last year, he has done an excellent job for Wirral."
