Tonight's results "could set Wirral Lib-Dems back 10 years," says Simon Holbrook
THE leader of Wirral's Liberal Democrat party said he is "certain there will be losses tonight."
Councillor Simon Holbrook, defending his seat for Prenton believes many people have turned their backs on the party.
He said: "Tonight is not looking good, we are sure there will be losses. Although the count is not yet completed, it's looking like tonight's results could set the party back about 10 years.
"And I have been told that this is the general pattern nationally. People who have voted Lib-Dem in the past have turned away from us while others have stuck by us and kept faith when the party is trying to do difficult things in difficult times."
