UNDER-age drinkers causing trouble at places like Neston Cross continue to be dealt with by the authorities. Trading Standards have now joined forces with the police to tackle the problem at source - off licences.

Cheshire County Council's move follows growing complaints about young people involved in unruly behaviour after under-age drinking sessions throughout the county.

The main thrust of the campaign is to advise off licence staff on how to say 'no' to young customers they think are under-age.

Trading Standards have also been tackling other under-age sales, such as fireworks, cigarettes, lottery tickets, scratch cards, solvents and video nasties.

The County Council was being represented at a major national conference in London, yesterday, called by the Institute of Trading Standards.
