A PUBLIC house burglar was held in custody when sent to the crown court for sentence by Wirral magistrates.

David Phillip Roach, aged 26, of Greenwood Road, Woodchurch, admitted break-ins on different dates at the Cherry Orchard pub in Arrowe Park, The Pensby Hotel and The Stirrup Pub, in Birkenhead, and theft of cash and cigarettes worth a total of £944.

He also admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm on neighbours James Forshaw and Joseph Donnelly in a dispute over noise in 1996.
