OVER 150 young disabled people will be on the crest of a wave tomorrow, when they will be competing in the biggest Schools' Disabled Swimming Event in the North West, at Europa Pools, Birkenhead, between 11am and 2pm.
The gala is part of a number of competitions organised for disabled children from special and mainstream schools, giving them the opportunity to participate and compete in a variety of sports.
The races cater for every level of swimmer, from those just learning to experts, and for every disability, whether that be someone with a physical/learning disability or a sensory impairment.
Last year talented young swimmer, 13-year-old Sam Platt was selected, and went on to become British National Junior Champion. Other talented swimmers will be chosen to represent Wirral at the 1998 Merseyside Youth Games.
